Meet your Doula, Childbirth Instructor, Placenta Specialist and Lactation Counselor

Hi, I am Heather Whitcomb, owner of Butterfly Birth Services. I love teaching childbirth classes in Northeast Pa and The Susquehanna Valley. In 2015 I decided it was time to do what I loved and started working as a birth professional and that is when Butterfly Birth Services was born. I am a certified Birth Boot Camp Instructor and Doula. In addition to this certification, I have also certified as a birth and bereavement doula through StillBirthday and earned the Placenta Encapsulation Certification through Brilliant Birth Academy. I am also a certified lactation counselor through Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice.

Through my own pregnancies and births I have learned that when you know all of your options you can be confident in making the best choices for your birth. Helping couples prepare for an amazing birth is what I love to do. Working as a doula and childbirth educator, I have learned that each birth is unique and even when things don’t go as planned, birth is still amazing. Witnessing new life enter the world is an honor and I have great respect for the families that have allowed me to serve them during this incredible journey.

My husband and I have been married since the 1900’s. Ok so it was 1999 when we tied the knot.  I am a homeschooling mom to 6 wonderful kids, 3 boys and 3 girls! In addition to our many children we also have a Great Dane, 2 cats and many chickens. When I am not busy being a mom, teaching classes or attending births you will probably find me catching up with friends over coffee or enjoying a night out with my husband. Supporting families is what I do, it is my passion and where my heart is. This is my small way of making the world a better place.
